Guangzhou Harbour Bureau sets up office in Nansha

GUANGZHOU Harbour Bureau has set up an office in Nansha as part of its strategy to boost development of Nansha port area, Xinhua reported.

Nansha has been a very busy port with 10 container berths with capacity of four million TEU and the largest petrochemical terminals in south China. The new office of Guangzhou port authority will help to serve better and boost the development of Nansha port area, the report said.

Guangzhou Harbour Bureau also made adjustments to its six subsidiaries. The former administration offices of Haigang, Neigang, Panyu and Wuhe will be renamed as branches, or sub-offices, while the administration offices of Xintang and Zengcheng will be combined and renamed as Xintang Sub-office, the report said.

Guangzhou port has developed rapidly in recent years, especially when it started to develop the Nansha port area. The south China port handled 343 million tons in 2007, making it the third largest port in China and the fifth largest in the world.
